Honouring his 3 albums in a year pledge Aaron Funk delivers what is his most mature album yet. Gone are the “breakcore” styles of some of his more abrasive early material to be replaced by a dark thoughtful edge. The rhythmic playfullness (and what some would call complexity) are still there but allied to a strong emotional content dealing with relationships, death and rebirth. Venetian Snares is becoming one of the most talked about new artists in the genre and this album fullfils the hype. The opening track “Dad” contains Aaron’s first full vocal performance and explores his feelings towards his late father. There is also a cover version of The Misfits “She” with Aaron doing a fine approximation of Glenn Danzig. With the sleeve by cult artist Trevor Brown.
