“The Moon is Gone” is from Vancouver based Julian Fane’s second album “Our New Quarters”, the follow-up to 2004’s acclaimed “Special Forces”. Fane’s new pieces are grounded in live percussion, great swathes of strings, indecipherable high-pitched vocals and lush sweeping synth effects which form their emotional core. “The Moon Is Gone” wallows deliciously in vast guitar-laden melancholy and achieves a pristine beauty almost classical in tone.
