The video for “Cyphers Become Sifr” emerged from time spent together by Saint Abdullah, artist Abbas Zahedi and filmmaker Rebecca Salvadori while developing A Forbidden Distance, a live audiovisual work by Salvadori, Saint Abdullah and Eomac.

During this encounter, the artists discussed and filmed archival material, reflecting on how music can generate moving image—and how moving image can, in turn, generate music. A spoken-word contribution shared by Zahedi on camera became the starting point for “Cyphers Become Sifr,” released by Saint Abdullah and Eomac on Planet Mu.

The film carries Salvadori’s distinctive approach to intimate portraiture: observing people through gestures, pauses and moments of reflection, and allowing a portrait to emerge from sustained attention rather than direct explanation.

The video returns to the encounter from which the track originated, completing a circular movement between lived experience, filmed portrait and sound: a moment became an image, and the image became music.
