It’s been a busy year for Portsmouth’s Gasman, what with playing live and starting his own label, and we can hear the influence of his support tour with the Cardiacs on this, his 9th album. Full of beatless electronic lullabies like ‘RXG3’ which unsettle in all the best ways and ‘Helpline’ in which there is a distinct sense of the uncanny just around the corner. Opener ‘Ruter’ is a majestic synth-led carousel of notes where the blackpool pier meets 90s trance. Another winner from The Gasman’s trademark ‘Gaylord’ sound.
