Weaver001 is Willie Saayman, a native of Cape Town but currently based in Johannesburg. He works as a film editor and video artist and his wife is a documentary filmmaker. he’s inspired by cinema mostly, and other people’s music to a lesser degree. He admires DJ Shadow, Lee Scratch Perry, Miles Davis and some early Tricky. After an 11 year break, 1998 saw the start of Weaver001. This is his first solo venture, the music is very evocative and lo-fi with guitar meanderings which remind one strongly of early Durutti Column instrumentals. Listen for yourselves…
