“Mi^grate is a descending missile of sound aligned with a collision course that takes you via a maze of sci-fi scrambled data and dysfunctional torture without making you physically bleed.”
“Mi^grate is a crossroad beyond biological and technological fusion; it’s a beacon leading us into the mass noise of the likes of Masonna & Merzbow.”
Paul Richard aka Speedranch has been an extreme person experimenting with breaks, noise, illbient and sonics for well over a decade. His past is peppered with punk, noise, doom, stoner rock, glam rock, ambient, Kiss and much, much more. He has developed creative releationships with some of the most respected punk and new metal bands – The Hardons, Old Lady Driver, Isis, The Clash, etc. His most recent collaboration with Venetian Snares has smashed preconceptions and crossed boundaries; his record being played by IDM and metal kids the world over. His new high-speed metal project Phantomsmasher (Hydrahead/Ipecac) has also helped to bridge the gaop between electronica and metal. Speedranch seems to be singlehandedly focusing the development and combination of these two very different genres and the splice seems to be working, so much so that he is rumoured to be collaborating with Mike Patton, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, Melt Banana and The Clash.
Jansky Noise is 29 year old Andy MacGregor from Manchester. The name Jansky comes from his great grandfather the astronomer Karl Jansky who discovered radio waves and the sound of the planets. At the tender age of 13 Jansky Noise became a DJ in his hometown Manchester playing the techno circuit with household name DJs. He quickly realised that DJing was restrictive and being a minimalist moved onto the studio where he developed a more advanced aesthetic in which hundreds of digitally recorded instrumentals and performances could be combined in multiple layers. This process of sonic layering has been a trademark of Jansky Noise ever since. He has also remixed and collaborated with Joy Division, Techno Animal, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Aphex Twin, Christian Marclay, Sonic Youth and many more. He is a leading agent in the experimental label V/Vm Test Records and has performed and toured in America and Europe appearing on the front cover of The Wire magazine in 1998 and on the front of Blow Up (Italy).
